Founder
David Palmer
created TouchPro Institute in 1986 after spending four years developing
Chair Massage programs for graduates of his massage school in San
Francisco. Palmer is credited as being the "father" of contemporary
Chair Massage (Massage Magazine, 1997). The American Massage
Therapy Association recognized his pioneering work by honoring him
with the 1997 National President's Award for his service to the
bodywork professions. Palmer is also the developer of the first
specialized chair for seated massage. Over 100,000 chairs modeled
on the original design have been sold since its 1986 introduction.
